PARENT-CHILD INTERACTION THERAPY (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy is an evidenced-based therapy approach designed to improve the relationship between children and their caregivers while addressing disruptive behaviors. The core ideas of PCIT are to strengthen the parent-child relationship, increase positive behaviors, decrease negative behaviors, and improve parent confidence and consistency. PCIT can be utilized in parent-child relationships where there is conflict, unhealthy parenting/caregiver patterns, attachment issues, and reunification due to child displacement. PCIT is most often used with younger children.
